Try and take some time tomorrow to visit the Queens Green Business Summit at Queens College. Sponsored by the Queens Chamber, Queens College, Con Ed, Citi, and many, many more (including the Queens Ledger!), this Summit promises to be much more than a "Go Green" rally or sales pitch. Instead, this carefully planned event has been designed to teach businesses, measurable, attainable and sustainable business practices they can bring back to their organizations. Here are a couple of examples. Did you know that restaurant owners can have their cooking greases and oils picked up for Free to be recycled into bio-diesel electricity? Did you ever think that by placing green bushes or plants on your flat roof, you would be decreasing the temperature on the inside of your building, thus lowering energy costs?

These are but a few of the concepts and ideas being taught at tomorrow's Summit. Admission is FREE. The Summit runs from 9AM to 4PM with break-out sessions scheduled every hour. (multiple tracks) The Summit is in Queens College's Student Union Building on the 4th Floor. Make it a point to stop by...you just might learn a new way to be environmentally friendly AND save a few bucks in the process.

Welcome to the Queens Commerce Blog. I am Jack Friedman, Executive Vice President of the Queens Chamber of Commerce. It is my hope that this blog will be an interactive exchange of business happenings relevant to the Queen's community. I will post Queens Chamber events, as well as other events sponsored by the many business organizations from around our borough. I encourage you to do the same. In these tough economic times, it is more important than ever to stay connected and expand our networks to maximize our business's potentials. Thanks for checking us out.
