ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkey's artillery shelled Islamic State group targets across the border in Syria for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, a senior Turkish official said, amid reports that Turkey-backed Syrian rebels were preparing an offensive against an IS-held border town in northern Syria.

"Their leader, so called 'Abubakar Shekau', is believed to be fatally wounded on his shoulders," the statement by military spokesman Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman added, without going into details on the source of its information. The military has reported the death of Boko Haram's Shekau in the past, only to have a man purporting to be him appear later, apparently unharmed, making video statements.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport on Tuesday rejected an appeal by Russia against the decision to ban the country from the Rio Paralympic Games over evidence of state-run doping. "The Court of Arbitration for Sport has dismissed the appeal filed by the Russian Paralympic Committee against the decision rendered by Governing Board of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) on 7 August 2016," said a statement from the Lausanne-based court.
