Britain's opposition Labour party leader Ed Miliband addresses an audience during a campaign stop in Manchester, northern EnglandBritain's opposition Labour Party holds a 2 percentage point lead over David Cameron's Conservatives, pollster TNS said on Tuesday, showing neither of the main parties had seen a decisive bounce after launching their manifestos. A suicide bomber from the Somali militant group al Shabaab on Tuesday rammed a car laden with explosives into a busy restaurant in the capital Mogadishu, killing at least 10 people and wounding more than a dozen others. The car bombing took place a day after after an al Shabaab suicide bomber killed six people, including four United Nations staff, during an attack on a U.N. minivan in Garowe, a city about 1000 km (600 miles) northeast of Mogadishu. Al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab has staged a string of attacks in Somalia and surrounding countries aimed at imposing its harsh brand of Islam and overthrowing the Somali government, which is backed by Western donors and African peacekeepers. "We are behind the attack," Sheikh Abdiasis Abu Musab, al Shabaab’s military operations spokesman, told Reuters.

Demonstrators hold placards outside a court in Johannesburg's Alexandra township as four men appeared in court for the killing of a Mozambican manBy Zandi Shabalala JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa sent soldiers on Tuesday to help stop anti-immigrant violence in areas of Durban and Johannesburg where at least seven people have been killed in the past three weeks. South Africa has been criticised by governments, including China, Nigeria and Zimbabwe, for failing to protect foreigners as armed mobs were shown on TV looting immigrant-owned shops and front-page photographs in a Sunday newspaper showed a Mozambican man being beaten and stabbed to death in broad daylight. Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula said a Zimbabwean couple were shot in the Johannesburg shanty town of Alexandra on Monday night but survived. Briefing reporters on the deployment of troops to Alexandra and to the coastal town of Durban, where the violence started, she said: "There will be those who will be critical of this decision but the vulnerable will appreciate it." Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini defended himself on Monday against claims that previous comments he made about foreigners sparked the anti-immigrant attacks.
