The dramatic reversal by Governor Asa Hutchinson comes amid an uproar over a similar law which Indiana's governor signed last week but critics warn discriminates against homosexuals and could harm the state's economy. Arkansas lawmakers sent the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) to Hutchinson's desk Tuesday, but the governor urged them to recall it, demanding additional civil protections. Supporters insist such bills protect people or businesses from infringement on their religious beliefs.
