He flashed a perfunctory smile, but it was with the knowledge that Argentina's defeat had prevented him from cementing his place in the pantheon of the truly great. While the 27-year-old has won everything there is to win -- and broken every record o break -- with Barcelona, the World Cup final offered him the opportunity to definitively seal his legacy in the sport.

US conductor Lorin Maazel conducts the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in Vienna, in March 2010US conductor and composer Lorin Maazel -- whose celebrated international career began when he was a child and later included stints at the New York Philharmonic and the Vienna State Opera -- died Sunday. Fellow conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, who heads the San Francisco Symphony, took to Twitter to laud Maazel's "brilliance and devotion to music reached the whole world." He served at the Vienna State Opera, as well as the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Radio Symphony of Berlin, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic.

One of the companies, Pamodzi Sports Marketing based in Nigeria, says its founder Papa Massata Diack is no longer involved in that company. Diack is CEO of Pamodzi Sports Marketing in Senegal.
