China's world-leading transfer splurge has left two teams with red faces after holders Guangzhou Evergrande and Jiangsu Suning crashed out of the AFC Champions League group stage. Just months after they repeatedly smashed Asia's transfer record to hire top players, the two sides flopped in the regional competition, a route to a coveted FIFA Club World Cup spot. Luiz Felipe Scolari's Evergrande were particularly poor as they were eliminated with a game to spare.
Patric Hornqvist buried the overtime winner as the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Washington Capitals 3-2 to grab a 3-1 lead in their second round NHL playoff series. Hornqvist took advantage of a blunder by Capitals defenceman Mike Weber to score the game winner. Weber, who was playing in his first game of the best-of-seven series, accidently passed the puck backwards to Hornqvist who beat Washington goalie Braden Holtby between the legs with a wrist shot.
