WHY ARE THE STREETS SO DIRTY ON METROPOLITAN AVENUE?
WHY ARE THE SIDEWALK FULL OF GARBAGE FROM OVERFILLED GARBAGE CANISTERS THAT SIT FROM FRIDAY TO SUNDAYS BLOWING ALL OVER THE PLACE?
WHY DOES RIDGEWOOD LOOK SO BEAUTIFUL?
ARE WE FORGOTTEN? IS ONCE A WEEK REALLY, REALLY ENOUGH JUST FOR ONE PICK UP?
MUST WE ENDURE THE FILTH WHILE WALKING WITH OUR CHILDREN, OR SHOPPING FOR OUR FOODS, AND SEE SO MUCH PAPERS/GARBAGE ALL OVER THE PLACE?
AWARENESS!
CONCERNED
PUBLIC ADVOCATE!
since last wednesday they were filled up. how this doesn't get the attention of the civic leader, the councilwomen, the senator, the chamber of commerce, or anyone else is beyond me.
I agree that everyone should protest by calling 311 day and night.
Since the Garbage canisters are already full, and it is only Thursday, my suggestion is to ask for a Friday morning pick up for now.
Middle Village is not a forgotten Community. I served the Community for decades and I live in the area. So just give a call!

I am sure through Senator Addabbo's office, communicating with the Maspeth Sanitation Department, that changes to pick up scheduling can be worked out.
IT IS ALL ABOUT COMMUNICATION!
Jim Turano
The blame is not the Sanitation Department, just a change in scheduling of pick ups from Sunday mornings to early Saturday mornings is needed.
THE MAIN REASONS FOR OVERFLOWING GARBAGE CANISTERS ARE THE INDIVIDUALS WHO RENT APARTMENTS ON METRO OR RIGHT OFF METRO. THEY FILL THE GARBAGE CANISTERS WITH THEIR PERSONAL GARBAGE. I HAVE SEEN THEM.
THEY SHOULD BE TICKETED NOT THE STORE OWNERS, WHO CONSTANTLY BATTLE THE MESS EACH DAY.
******THE SENATOR, THE CITY COUNCILWOMAN, THE CIVIC ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT, THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND EVERY OTHER ORGANIZATION SHOULD GET INVOLVED TO CLEAN UP A ONCE THRIVING AVENUE.
Bad enough that inspectors from New York constantly inspect businesses for ratings, giving fines, but the economy, closings of many stores, and the new Graffiti all over the Avenue makes and gives a BLACK EYE to the town of Middle Village,NY.
Collectively we need to address this problem and make it a better place for us and our children.
