The ASA Avengers defeated Delaware Valley 35-0. ASA dominated the first half on offense, scoring on long plays early in the possession. For the first half, freshman quarterback Travis Eakin (Toney, AL/Madison Academy), would go 9-11 passing totaling 288 yards. ASA’s first touchdown would be scored on an amazing 94-yard reception and run by freshman wide receiver Ouslet Volcy (Miami, FL/U.S. International Christian Academy)with 4:30 left to go in the first quarter. ASA’s second score would come on an 80-yard rush by freshman tailback Rashad White (Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck) to put the Avengers up 13-0. With 10:15 to go in the half Volcy would score his second touchdown of the day;this time on a 60-yard catch and run. After the touchdown, ASA would fake the extra-point kick for the 2-point conversion from Eakin to freshman middle linebacker JoJo Blanks (Pembroke, NC/Purnell Swett) who also finished the day with 4 tackles and a fumble recovery. On a day of “can you top this?” long offensive plays, freshman wide receiver David Valdes (Miami, FL/Felix Varela) had a one of his own on a 45-yard reception where he initially boggled the ball before pulling it in for ASA’s 4th T.D. of the first half and the lead28-0.

Freshman quarterback, Steven Torres (Yonkers, NY/Gorton) would take the reigns over for Travis Eakin for the second half and continue the Avengers’ successful passing game on the afternoon. He would put a 4-minute drive of his own together at the end of the contest, connecting first to receiver Delonte Johnson (Washington D.C./H.D. Woodson) for 38 yards, and then to Volcy Ouslet for 11 more, before handing off to freshman running back Devon Livingston (Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield) for the 5-yard rushing touchdown and ASA’S last of the day. The Avenger defensive backs were able to shutdown Delaware Valley’s passing attack with sophomore cornerback Andre Kates (Washington D.C./Surrattsville) leading the way with 4 (2 solo) tackles and a broken-up reception.

ASA improves to 2-2 on its first regular season after defeating #21 Louisburg College last weekend. The Avengers take the field again at Lackawanna, October 17th. Kick-off will be at 2pm.
