Queens College is well represented among this year’s East Coast Conference elite soccer players with two Knights and two Lady Knights being named to 2008 ECC all-star teams.
Senior forward Noorullah Mashriqi and junior defenseman Terrence Ahoua were selected among the men, and sophomore Andrea Slavin and junior Jenna Peveraro were each picked as ECC women's third team all-stars.
Hailing from Flushing, Mashriqi led the Knights in 2008 with eight goals and 18 points while earning two ECC Player Of The Week Awards and second-team honors. French junior defenseman Ahoua, a defensive stopper from Paris, made the third team for the second straight season.
Like Mashriqi for the Queens College men’s team, Floral Park’s Slavin was the clear offensive leader on the women’s team, scoring 13 goals and 28 points this season. Peveraro, the Lady Knights’ team captain from New Hyde Park, had two assists this season but was primarily named to the all-star team as a tremendous force on defense.
Behind Mashriqi and Ahoua’s efforts, the Queens College men’s team finished tied for second place in the 2008 ECC standings with a 5-2-1 conference record, going 10-6-2 overall. The Knights reached the ECC semifinals before falling to eventual ECC tournament champion Molloy.
The Lady Knights were tied for sixth place, going 4-5 in the ECC, but finished the 2008 campaign with an impressive 12-6 overall record.
