Community Board 5 will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 10, at 7:30 p.m., at Christ the King High School, 68-02 Metropolitan Avenue in Middle Village.

The agenda includes a presentation by MTA representatives regarding upcoming construction along the M train line to replace the bridge over the LIRR between the Metropolitan Avenue and Fresh Pond Road stations and the Myrtle Viaduct where the M train tracks go into the Myrtle Avenue/Broadway Station.

The work is scheduled to begin in July and will take approximately ten months to complete. During the work, the MTA plans include suspending M train service between the Metropolitan Avenue and Myrtle Avenue/Broadway stations.

The agenda also includes a public hearing regarding an application for an unenclosed sidewalk café with nine tables and 18 chairs on the Madison Street side of 779 Wyckoff Avenue in Ridgewood.

This will be followed by the public forum, a review of current applications for the sale of alcoholic beverages, a review of current building demolition applications, committee reports and the nomination of board members to the executive committee.

For more information or to register to speak in advance, call Board 5 at (718) 366-1834.

A major inconvenience at best, but the MTA needs to complete the rehabilitation of the BMT Myrtle Avenue Line as quickly and as efficiently as possible in preparation for more M train service for the L train shutdown.
