Over 100 families gathered at the U.S. Columbarium/Fresh Pond Crematory to pay tribute to the memories of family members this holiday season. As part of the ceremony, family members placed a dove on a holiday tree to remember their deceased loved ones.

At the event, two stained-glass doves were given to the crematory, which were created by a retired teachers group headed by Marge Stahl. Six-year-old Aliahna Star Ramos also sang a duet with Andrew Anton.

And an award was presented to John Caldarelli, who with the group Missing in America Project has done research into the abandoned bodies and cremated remains of veterans.

So far 72 out of 200 have been identified, two of which are Civil War veterans. In April, the remains will be interred in National Cemetery in Pinelawn, New York.
