Local residents Joanna McNulty (pictured) and Erika Winkler qualified for the Metropolitan Swimming Junior Olympics to be held in West Nyack. They will be competing for their club team, Long Island Aquatic Club, during the three-day competition. The club regularly sends swimmers to compete at regional and national competitions, and has already qualified seven swimmers for the USA Swimming Olympic Trials this summer. “These athletes have aspirations to become nationally ranked swimmers in the future," said coach Ginny Nussbaum. "Their hard work and experience at the Junior level will help prepare him for the road that lies ahead. We look forward to their success this weekend.” The Metropolitan Junior Olympics take place March 16–18. Results will be available at www.longislandswimming.com after the meet.
