Well, this week we have a wager that hits a little closer to home.
Queens Borough President Melinda Katz and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. put up the best of their respective boroughs in a friendly little wager on the four-game Subway Series.
Should the senior citizens on the Yankees find a way to stay up past 6:30 p.m and actually make most of the games and actually win, Diaz will be receiving a platter of sandwiches from Leo's Latticini, better known as Mama's of Corona, and pastries from Omonia Cafe in Astoria.
Now, should the Mets win, Katz will be receiving a sampler pack of Kool-Aid from Pathmark and three different kinds of burritos from 7-Eleven.
Just kidding Bronx, we love ya! (Yikes, good thing we're not distributed there!)
Actually, should the Mets win, Katz will be the recipient of a sample tray of empanadas from Babalu on East Tremont Road (yum!) and a dozen cannoli from Egidio Pastry shop in the borough's Little Italy.
May the best team win!
