GOP a bunch of 'no' men (and women)

Dear Editor:

Taxing the rich will bring in additional revenue, but then there is the problem of the 50 percent who don't pay taxes at all: corporations and wealthy individuals. Most Republicans stated they will not vote for a bill that raises taxes. I wonder why.

The Republicans also won't even consider the "jobs bill" until after they return from their break. And when they do return, they will get back to the business of holding the American people hostage.

Their only goal is to try to lead the country to vote against anything President Obama stands for.

Despite high unemployment and a largely languishing real estate market, U.S. businesses are more profitable than ever, according to recently released federal figures. And yet, Republicans still want to keep the Bush tax cuts in place.

No matter how much Obama gives in to Republicans, they are the party of "no."

They are out of touch with the middle class.

Sincerely,

Charles Merendino

Woodside
