December 17th-December 24th

Friday December 19th, 7:30p.m.

Bishop Ford at Christ The King

The season is still young, but that doesn’t mean that this matchup won’t be a doozy. Bishop Ford (4-1) will be on the road to play perennial power Christ The King (3-1). It’s also another chance to get a look at Bishop Ford stud point guard Chaz Williams, who will be leaving for Hofstra next year.

Aeropostale Holiday Festival

Nothing says holiday spirit like some college basketball, and this weekend, St. John’s, Columbia, Virginia Tech, and Marist will pack the Garden. College basketball always has the potential for upsets (so Columbia and Marist have hope), but this will most likely be the Red Storm’s first chance to match up with a really tough opponent in the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Queens College vs Felician

The Knights are off to a rocky start to the season. At 2-6, they’ve got time to turn it around before East Coast Conference play starts, and winning the Caldwell College Classic over the weekend would be a great start.

Carolina Panthers at New York Giants

Three weeks ago, the Giants looked like they would coast towards the NFC number 1 seed. Two losses later, and the 11-3 Giants will enter the game tied with the Panthers for the top spot. The winner will probably end up with home field throughout the NFC playoffs.

New York Knicks at Boston Celtics

Recent history suggests that the Knicks don’t fare well at all when traveling to Boston. Don’t look for the New York to win, but see if they can simply hang with the Celtics, who have won 15 consecutive games and are 14-1 at home. With D’Antoni at the helm, another 104-59 loss isn’t expected, but this could get ugly.

Monday December 22nd, 7PM

Long Island University at Manhattan College

Inter-City College basketball games are always fun, and while LIU-Manhattan doesn’t have the same cache as other rivalries, it will be fun to see if Jaytornah Wisseh can carry the 3-5 Blackbirds over the 5-3 Jaspers.

Houston Rockets at New Jersey Nets

The Net’s rough December has eroded much of the good-will generated during November, but beating Houston would go a long way towards righting the ship. Devin Harris has played lights out for New Jersey this season, and it’ll be interesting to see how he matches up against an injured Rockets team, already missing Tracy McGrady and with a limping Ron Artest.
