On Saturday, April 7, the Glendale Maspeth Methodist Church hosted an art show that showcased 13 of Glendale’s best artists.

The event, which was held in the church’s basement, was open to everyone in the community and was also free to attend.

One artist who proudly showed her artwork was Sue Kreitzman who said she has been painting for over twenty years.

She paints the female landscape and showcased her work featuring original laminated prints created by using acrylic nail polish. Often when she paints on wood and paper, she likes to glue objects such as buttons onto her work.

“I am a maniac about color, and I am what is called an outside artist because I never went to art school,” Kreitzman said. “I am very interested in what it is to be female since I am a female, and I am wild about color. I eat it, I sleep it, and I dream about it.

“I am just inspired on what it is to be a woman,” she added.

The church also hosted group sessions throughout the day where the artists spoke about what inspired them to create their art pieces. The event allowed the 13 artists to share their creations with the church and the community.
