After being term-limited out of the City Council in 2001 and losing in a special election for the seat in June 2008, word has come to the Pol Position desk this week that he is being pushed to strongly consider a run for his old seat against newly elected council representative from the 30th District, Elizabeth Crowley.
It is widely thought that Crowley won the seat in the November election on the coattails of the Obama Democratic line. In the June 2008 special election in the district (which covers Glendale, Maspeth, and parts of Ridgewood, too), Anthony Como beat Crowley and Ognibene - only to lose to Crowley in November.
Most thought Como, an attorney who worked for former State Senator Serf Maltese as well as the Queens district attorney, would run against her this year, but he is apparently being tapped for a job in Mayor Bloomberg's administration.
Altogether now, and breathe...
