Eeek.
Now before you get your pitchforks and torches, let’s think about this. Rondo is 22, meaning he was born in 1986. He’s certainly young enough to remember the Jordan vs. Ewing battles of the 1990’s, but he also grew up in Kentucky. By the time Rondo was 15, the Knicks had begun their downward spiral.
Rondo played two seasons at the University of Kentucky, but the Wildcats made it to the NCAA tournament, not the NIT both years, so Rondo also never played at the Garden during the height of March Madness.
Folks, it’s too late for Rajon Rondo, but maybe we need to worry about the memories that the current Knicks are leaving behind. An entire generation of kids is growing up knowing the Garden as “just another area.” Give us some hope, Donnie!
