It amazes me how people can think they have the credibility to give reasons on how and why a business suffers.

I have read and heard comments for the last year about how the loss of parking along Queens Boulevard has had no effect on customer traffic and revenue.

Along with Jay Parker and all of the business owners along Queens Boulevard, I can tell you that the loss of parking spaces has impacted revenue in a big way. When

Leila Zogby ("Don't Blame Lanes" – 6/21) writes about Parker, owner of now-closed Ben's Best, stating that the loss of parking spaces impacting his business is “implausible,“ she clearly has no idea.

I have nothing against bicyclists, but as a business owner in Rego Park, I am seeing sales slip away month after month, starting in August of last year, which only points to one thing: loss of parking.

I would encourage Ms. Zogby to take the time to visit any hardworking business owner in Rego Park and get educated on the facts.

Yes, we are always looking for ways to replace lost revenue - better service, pricing, products and more - but fighting against impactful events like loss of parking that you have no control over is devestating.

To all the other experts out there, talk to a business owner first before you coach us on how to save a 73-year-old business like Ben's Best.
