The open houses, to solicit community input on the project, will focus on four conceptual designs for a new main span that will cross Newtown Creek. The project was green lighted after the Federal Highway Administration approved state plans in a Record of Decision announced in March of last year. Since then, the state has been working to finish design plans for the new bridge.
The first open house will take place on Thursday, February 18, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Christ the King High School in Middle Village. The school is located at 68-02 Metropolitan Avenue.
The second meeting will be held at St. Cecilia's Church in Greenpoint on Wednesday, February 24, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. The church is located at 84 Herbert Street.
