Library censorship

Dear Editor:

Despite my requests to the Queens Public Library (starting in November of last year) and the Queens borough president’s inquiry into the matter, the podcasts from radio station WBAI and Gary Null continue to be blocked by the library.

The programming from the commercial stations such as WOR are readily available for saving to a flash drive, as are gangster rap audios from various websites, but the diverse social and political commentary from listener-sponsored radio is forbidden.

Just where is the intellectual freedom and equitable access to information that a public library is supposed to provide?

May I suggest that public funding for library executive compensation be prohibited until this censorship is stopped, along with the well-publicized misuse of library resources.

Sincerely,

William Herbert
