They include All Nations Baptist Church of Woodhaven, Sacred Heart Church Food Pantry in Glendale, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Ridgewood, and St. Stan’s in Maspeth, to name a few.
“Many people fall on hard times in this city,” Holden said. “And a little bit of food from their local pantry can make a huge difference in their lives.”
According to Holden’s office, the food pantries serve over 1,000 people. They were selected based on the number of people they help, distance between pantries so all communities would benefit, and the degree of assistance each needs.
“We essentially gave funds to every pantry that was in need of help,” Kelley said.
For Nancy Baer, pastoral associate of Glendale’s Sacred Heart Church, said the money will allow the 180 families that rely on the church’s food pantry to be served “consistently each week."
