A new café in Maspeth has neighborhood residents buzzing.

Celebration Café on Grand Avenue isn’t your typical café. The upbeat contemporary music, bright décor, and wing night specials set it apart from the average food spot.

“Being that times are so tough, I created an atmosphere where you can feel happy,” said owner Louie Selamaj. It’s “a place for friends to meet, have some food, and have a good time.”

The café boasts yellow walls with decorative red and blue booths. There’s also a popcorn machine that serves popcorn - instead of bread - before lunchtime meals.

The former head chef of O’Neill’s Restaurant, Jose Dominguez, relocated to Celebration Café, bringing his award-winning chicken wings recipe with him. There will be wing specials every night, and the menu also features pasta, steaks and seafood.

“The food here is really good, and I think the wing nights specials are great,” said Danielle Calamia, after visiting the café for its grand opening May 27.

Celebration Café is located at 65-35 Grand Avenue in Maspeth.
