New York Diamond Boutique, located at 71-46 Austin St. in Forest Hills, celebrated five years in the neighborhood over the weekend with a luxury car show.

The show featured luxury cars like an Aston Martin, Hummer and Porshe 911 to create a buzz for the anniversary and a sneak preview of the fall line of jewelry.

“Why a car show? Even in this economy, luxury items are still attractive,” said manager Michael Jaye. “There is a strong correlation between fine jewelry and fine automobiles, so we wanted to draw that association.”

While they have been in the business for 30 years, the team moved their store to Forest Hills from Atlanta in 2009, and have been on the block ever since.

“They can check out the cars and the store, and they can find out that we not only showcase fine jewelry, but at the same time we do so many other things as well,” he said.

Throughout the year, NY Diamond Boutique reaches out to the community with essay contests with local schools, a big presence in the fall street fair, and plans to launch their support for the Breast Cancer Wall.

“We feel that business is more than just dollars and cents, but we also feel that it is relationships,” Jaye said. “This helps to continue to create and seal relationships with the people and the community that we live in.”
