Senior, St, John’s Women’s Volleyball

St. John’s senior & Hawaii native Lena Yee recorded her 2,002nd career dig, leading the Red Storm to a 3-1 win over Big East Conference rival Seton Hall at Carnesseca Hall on Sunday.

Yee’s 12 digs led St. John’s to wins (25-14, 25-19, 25-21) in the final three games after the Pirates took the opening game, 27-25.

Behind Yee’s leadership, the Red Storm (18-7, 9-1 Big East) have won their last seven matches and 13 of its past 14 to lead the 15-team Big East by a ½-game over Cincinnati (22-5, 9-2 Big East) with four matches left to play in the regular season.

St. John’s continues its homestand next weekend, hosting South Florida (15-10, 5-5 Big East) on Friday, November 7th at 7pm, and Georgetown (12-11, 5-5 Big East) on Sunday, November 9th at 2 pm, on Senior Day.

The Red Storm will then finish the regular season traveling to Notre Dame (12-12, 7-4 Big East) on November 14th and DePaul (4-20, 2-9 Big East) on November 16th, before traveling to Pittsburgh, where the 2008 Big East Championships will take place at Fitzgerald Field House November 21-23. St. John’s will be seeking it’s second consecutive Big East tournament title (after winning its first in program history last season) and third straight trip to the NCAA tournament.
