Parade charade

Dear Editor,

After witnessing the Bastille Day parade in Paris, President Donald Trump stated that he wants a dramatic Veteran’s Day military parade of his own. “We’re going to try and top it,” Trump said.

It brought back old, old memories of a Warner Brothers Looney Tunes short by Harold Arlen called “I Love a Parade.” It opens, showing a fat clown joyously jumping up and down preluding the start of a parade.

While we would be watching these American soldiers bravely marching in Washington DC, one wonders how many would not be doing so if they had a history such as that of The Donald.

He managed to dodge the draft, amassing five college deferments and initiated the last dodge with the aid of his family doctor with a 1-Y dubious medical deferment with a bone spur in his foot.

A proper name for the Trump “I Love a Parade” would more “I Love a Charade”.
