More than 600 children from 12 Parks Department swim teams throughout the five boroughs competed in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle events, as well as a team relay, at the second of three High Point swim meets. The meet was held at the Flushing Meadows Aquatic Center on Sunday.

This is the 11th season of the High Point Meets. This year's Borough Cup championship will be held on May 15.

Teams included the Asser Levy Lightning, Brownsville Sting Rays, Chelsea Blue Dolphins, Dapolito Aqua Devils, Flushing Meadows Aquacades, Hansborough Aqua Jammers, Metropolitan Sharks, Roy Wilkins Piranhas, St. John's Finmen, St. Mary's Marlins, Staten Island Shockwaves, and 54 East Gators.

The Parks Department provides a variety of free, water-based programs for all ages and levels, ranging from swim lessons to recreational swimming to training for swim team competition. Swim team practice sessions are held weekdays and Saturdays. Youth between the ages of 6 and 18 who can swim 50 yards in reasonably good form may try out for the team.
