Plenty of Oz analogies to go around

Dear Editor:

A letter in the August 25th issue compared Michele Bachmann with the character of the scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz.

Alas, she is not the only politician who can be equated to characters Dorothy met going down the Yellow Brick Road. Barack Obama would make a fine tin man. His economic policies and social agenda have greatly hurt Americans, causing rising unemployment, excessive taxation and shipment of jobs overseas. He'd easily do well in the Jack Haley role singing "If I Only Had a Heart."

As far as the cowardly lion, just about any Democrat would do. They are terrified of confronting the illegal immigration issue, deporting aliens, offending the Latino lobby, denying illegal aliens government services, and giving those jobs to legal citizens.

After all, these are potential Democratic voters. So instead, Social Security and federal retirees haven't had cost of living allowances for three years, despite inflation which has caused expenses to rise. In effect, their pensions are less now than three years ago. Bert Lahr would envy them.

When off to see the wizard, one will find over the rainbow that it is not only Republicans who are hurting Americans.
