The worsening scandal involving priests that abused children over decades, as well as allegations that Cardinal Theodore McCarrick sexually abused young seminarians and priests and that Pope Francis did nothing about it only means one thing: Pope Francis needs to tender his resignation.
The Catholic Church has never been in such a state as it is today. No wonder that Mass attendance throughout this country has continued to drop.
If the pope refuses to step down, a complete lack of trust in the leadership of the Catholic Church will only deepen.
For the good of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis needs to step down, and there needs to be a thorough housecleaning of the Catholic hierarchy across around the world.
