Queens College will be turning out students of finance at its next business forum on Friday, September 21. The forum will feature guest speaker Jill Schlesinger, editor-at-large for CBS's MoneyWatch.com and cbsnews.com.

Friday's event is titled “How to Manage Your Financial Life During Turbulent Times,” and will begin at noon in the 4th Floor ballroom of the Student Union, located at 65-30 Kissena Boulevard in Flushing.

Steven Malin, an economics professor at Queens College and organizer of the forums, said the events are a benefit to the college as well as those who attend.

“We do this as part of our outreach to he community, and for us it helps to cement our relationship with not just the speakers and the sponsors of the event, but to the very many businesses in the community that we interact with all the time,” he said.

The forums are free and open to the public, and Queens College encourages everyone to attend, especially local small business owners. In addition to the lecture, participants will have the opportunity to network.

Schlesinger is an expert on the economy, markets and investing. She writes a nationally syndicated column about finance, is a regular commentator on the radio show “Marketplace,” and owns an independent advisory firm with over $650 million in client assets.

“She is a reporter on a range of topics, from financial markets to personal finance and economics,” said Malin.

The QC Business Forum is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. To register, call 718-997-2920 or email business.forum@qc.cuny.edu. Complimentary parking is available. For directions, go to www.qc.cuny.edu/directions
