With members and friends on hand to help, the Queens Borough Elks (Facebook) successfully served nearly 200 turkey dinners to needy families on Thanksgiving Day. The group was host to a Thanksgiving dinner sponsored by Francis Albert Construction at their Elmhurst lodge.

Nearly thirty volunteers arrived early Thursday morning, including people from Maspeth Town Hall, Shannon Gael Irish Football Club, and the Girl Scouts’ Brownies Unit. Fifteen trays of sliced fresh turkey were placed on chafing dishes in addition to stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, and cranberry sauce.

“Our lodge was informed that many of the area food banks were not open Thanksgiving Day and our contractor and close-friend Francis Albert Construction suggested that we offer a Turkey Dinner with all trimmings to those in need. We are very pleased with such a great turnout” stated Thomas Rudzewick, Trustee Chairman of Queens Borough B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 878.
