Queens native Marc Hsu continues moving up the coaching ranks with his move to Big East mainstay DePaul University.

I’m looking forward to joining a tremendous staff at DePaul with Coach Leitao,” he said.

Hsu joins the staff ahead of the 2019-20 season, a move announced on Monday by the Blue Demons’ athletic department.

“I’m excited to add Marc to my coaching staff,” said head coach Dave Leitao, who is currently in his fourth season leading DePaul’s men’s basketball program. “His contacts and energy will help increase our recruiting efforts nationally and abroad.

“Marc has worked with some tremendous coaches, and our players will benefit from those experiences while adding new ideas as we continue to build on our success here at DePaul,” he added.

Hsu joins a DePaul team who finished their 2018-19 season at 19-17, an eight-win improvement from the season before, finishing as the runner-up in the College Basketball Invitational. It was also DePaul’s first winning season since 2007, when they also last won 20 games.

Hsu is coming off a stint in Western Kentucky, where he helped lead the Hilltoppers to the final four of the NIT in 2018.

“I would like to thank all the WKU fans & administration for welcoming me the past few seasons,” Hsu said. “I’m forever grateful for the opportunity Coach [Rick] Stansbury gave me.”

Before that, Hsu was at New Mexico State, where the Aggies went 28-6 and earned an NCAA Tournament bid following a WAC post-season title.

Hsu has also had previous stops at Cal-State Bakersfield, Texas Southern and Binghamton.
