Dear Editor,

His name was Thomas A. Snow, but every one called him Tommy. He was tall and lanky, and would greet you with a warm smile on his face. He was always eager to help whatever the situation.

He was a member of the Holy Name Society at Blessed Sacrament’s Catholic Church, which was just down the block from his home on 85 Street in Glendale.

In his early manhood, he mastered sailing a catamaran and was an avid bike rider into his eighties. He had a youthful playfulness about him with a jolly infectious laugh.

He and his wife Edna would play practical jokes spontaneously. And he was a good husband to Edna who he nursed through her last years.

You might think of him as a big Boy Scout, ever ready with a helping hand. In fact, he once told me, “God gave you two hands, one to help yourself and one to help others.”

Tommy passed away this year at the age of 88, and just by being uniquely himself he left a void that no one can fill. I have never known anyone more honest or sincere or having any better quality of goodness in them than Tommy Snow.

If it is true that the pure in heart shall see God, then I know where my friend Tommy is.
