Kudos to Councilman Rory Lancman and Assemblyman Michael Simanowitz for getting funds to build a wheelchair ramp, which allows P.S. 201 to regain its status as a polling place. The Pomonok Houses site has been closed to voters since 2013.
Now they can focus their efforts on a nearby polling site that's been closed to voters since 2012: P.S. 164 in Kew Gardens Hills.
One of Lancman's aides told me his boss was trying to get a ramp built in time for September's primary election, but I haven't seen any progress. If it's not built
soon, many Kew Gardens Hills residents won't be able to vote.
Our only choice is absentee ballots, thanks to absentee leadership.
