On December 30 at 3:30 a.m., police received a call reporting the incident, which occurred at the intersection of Flushing Avenue and 64th Street.
After a canvass of the area, Officers Sean McCarren and Jason Bianchini arrested 28-year-old Nick J. Francis of 65-15 Grand Avenue, Maspeth.
According to reports, Francis was allegedly driving his own personal vehicle when he approached the victim. He identified himself as a police officer and removed the victim's jacket. He then fled in his car, which, according to police, was outfitted with flashing strobe lights.
When Drake was arrested, McCarren and Bainchini also found a bulletproof vest and a holster for a firearm in his car.
