Dear Editor,

At an angry town hall meeting in Hillcrest on December 7, Empire State Indivisible activists excoriated the Independent Democratic Conference, and for good reason.

IDC really stands for "I Don't Care" and "Integrity Doesn't Count."

Eight state senators who were elected as Democrats betrayed constituents by conspiring with GOP Senators to gain small favors for their districts in exchange for surrendering their party's leadership role.

They are joined by Brooklyn's Simcha Felder, who caucuses with Republicans.

Most of the meeting's' fury focused on State Senator Tony Avella, whose 11th District voters chose him to replace Republican Frank Padavan in 2010.

He remained loyal until 2014 when he joined the IDC, which is led by State Senator Jeff Klein, the Bronx's Benedict Arnold.

State Senator Jose Peralta of Queens later joined the movement. Both were strongly criticized by Comptroller Scott Stringer for blocking tenant rights and affordable housing bills in exchange for real estate industry support.

Avella received a $40,000 donation from Glenwood Management, a giant real estate developer whose bribes led to the ouster of ex-Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos.

Democratic voters must toss out "The Hurtful Nine" in 2018 primary elections.
