Restore Q74

Dear Editor,

Regarding Sara Krevoy's January 2nd article on the Queens bus network redesign, any overhaul of Queens bus service must include restoring the Q74 line, also called the Vleigh Place Shuttle

It ran from Queens College to the Union Turnpike subway station until it

was cancelled in 2010 due to MTA budget cuts.

The Q74 provided convenient commuter service to Kew Gardens Hills residents and Queens College students. Other bus lines halted by budget cuts have since been restored. Why not the Q74?

Councilman Barry Grodenchik urged bus lines that will bring students to educational institutions like Queensborough Community College, which is in his district.

Queens College is in districts represented by Councilman Rory Lancman, Assemblyman Daniel Rosenthal and State Senator Joseph Addabbo, who must lead the fight to restore the Q74 as part of their obligation to constituents.

Sincerely,

Richard Reif
