Dear Editor,

Mayor Bill de Blasio's decision to close public schools last week was the right decision given the predicted intensity of the approaching nor'easter.

It would have been disastrous if parents, children, school personnel and bus drivers would have had to go out in such dangerous weather conditions.

For next winter, if the mayor does not want to close schools because of snowstorms, he does have the option to open schools on a two-hour delayed schedule, which would certainly make it much easier on teachers and students.
