Queens residents will never forget the tragic events that took nearly 3,000 lives on September 11, 2001. On the 12-year anniversary, communities across the borough continue to hold candlelight vigils and remembrance ceremonies to honor their friends and loved ones. Here are just some of the events taking place:

Sat. Sep., 7

Remember Me Run at Michael’s Cemetery

2 p.m.

This commemorative two-mile run is held in honor of those lost in the attacks on September 11. All of the proceeds are donated to the Christopher Santora Scholarship. $25, Free for children 10 and under. | Michael’s Cemetery, 72-02 Astoria Blvd., Astoria.

Remembrance Ceremony

12:30 p.m.

On Sunday, September 8, 2013, join the families of Glendale, Middle Village, Ridgewood and Woodhaven to remember and honor the 42 lives of those lost in the community. | Forest Park, Dry Harbor Playground, Myrtle Avenue and 80th Street, Glendale.

Wed. Sep., 11

Bayside Hills Memorial Ceremony

7 p.m.

Join the Bayside Hills Civic Association and the community as residents gather at the memorial plaque to remember those lost in the attacks. | Bell Boulevard and Horace Harding Expressway, Bayside.

Juniper Valley Park Candlelight Vigil

7:30 p.m.

Residents are invited to bring a blanket, chair and flashlight as the community gathers in the park for a candlelight vigil in the park. | Juniper Valley Park, Juniper Boulevard North and 71st Street, Middle Village.

Memorial Grove Candlelight Ceremony

7:30 p.m. (TBD)

Join the United Community Civic Association and Port Authority of NY and NJ for the neighborhood’s annual candlelight ceremony.| McManus Memorial Park, 81st Street and Grand Central Parkway, Astoria Heights.

Breezy Point 9/11 Tribute

Residents of the beach community of Breezy Point often hold an outdoor mass on the evening of September 11 to remember the family and friends lost on the tragic day. | 9/11 Memorial, Tribute Park, Rockaway Point Boulevard and Beach 218th Street, Breezy Point.

Candlelight Ceremony at Remsen Memorial Park
