The public schools are closed. The private schools are closed. There is no mail delivery. The libraries are closed. Wait, is that a person trying to enter the Carroll Gardens Library?
Take a closer look. It is custodian Rose Gangone, outside in the 27-degree weather shoveling snow on Tuesday, January 27. There are many more library custodians, building superintendents, and good neighbors who tried to keep the sidewalks passable. Let us remember to say thank you.
There was a sign hanging on the fence of a home on Clinton Street. It said "Thank you for cleaning my sidewalk" because the owner did not know which of her neighbors had done the shoveling.
We need these snow heroes and they need our gratitude.
