Well, that was fun while it lasted.
The Red Storm men had a ball opening the season 8-1 against the NJIT's, Bethune-Cookman's and Cornell's of the world. But starting this weekend, things will get a little tougher. This weekend the Storm will take to Madison Square Garden for the Aeropostale Holiday Festival, where they will play Marist in the opening around, and could (and should) potentially Virginia Tech in the championship round.
No disrespect to Marist, but the Hokies will be the true test of the weekend. Virgina Tech is 6-4, but much like St. John's they haven't played the toughest opening schedule, facing teams like Elon, Gardner-Webb and Mount St. Mary's.
If the storm can handle the Hokies, that would be a huge boon to them as they head into Big East play.
