There are several ways that you can improve your resume to help you land your dream job. The first thing you need to look at is how you list your education and any skills you have on your resume. You will want to try to think how it can be used at the employers you are sending out your resume to for employment. What this means is that instead of you just simply listing your education or coursework you will want to list down how the specific skills you learned in your classes are actually used at their business or organization.
An example of this would be I am applying for a social scientist position with a research organization. My skills include SPSS, data analysis, survey building, and other pertinent skills needed for the position in which I am applying. So I will change just SPSS on my resume to using software to analyze the results of surveys for connections between variables in the study that proves or disapproves the hypothesis of the research.
This is a key in order to improve your resume and to make it appear more valuable to employers you are applying to for each position. You will want to build several different resumes if you are applying for more than one type of position that have different skill sets required for each of the job descriptions. So if you are applying for a data analyst and a sales trend analyst. You will require some of the same skills but also some different skills are required for each of those two positions as well.
