Women complete Hoya sweep

Led by a career-high 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting from Maya Singleton, the St. John’s women’s basketball team defeated Georgetown, 71-63, on Sunday afternoon at McDonough Arena.

With the win, St. John’s (15-11, 8-7 Big East) secured its fourth-straight season sweep of the Hoyas.

Singleton’s career-best offensive effort was accompanied by 11 rebounds, giving the senior her Big East-leading 15th double-double of the year.

Alisha Kebbe also put up double-figures for the Red Storm in Sunday’s outing, recording 16 points on a 5-for-9 shooting effort. In addition, the sophomore guard grabbed five rebounds and recorded a pair of blocks to help the Red Storm past the Hoyas (11-13, 6-8).

Tiana England stuffed the stat sheet for the Red Storm, posting six points, and tying a career high 10 assists, three rebounds and a steal on the afternoon.

St. John’s will be back in action on Friday when the Johnnies return to Carnesecca Area to take on Seton Hall, beginning a three-game home stretch to close regular season play.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. with the live national broadcast airing on FS2.
