Each year, two Richmond Hill high school students receive scholarships from Zara Realty. This year's winners were Richmond Hill locals, Shazad Outar and Kavya Sharma.

Outar and Sharma graduated with 91 and 98 GPAs, respectively. Both received certificates on behalf of the school’s principal, Neil Ganesh for excellence in STEM and computer science.

Both students will be attending City College this Fall to continue their studies in STEM.

Speaking on the scholarship from Zara, Outar says, “It really motivates me".

It’s saying ‘I support you’”.

Tony Kistoo, the Director of Technology at the school has called the two students "highly motivated”.

In 2016, Zara Realty donated a $125,000 computer lab to the school in support of their growing STEM programs.

“The computer lab is a great addition to our school. Most of our computer science [classes] go on in that lab”, Kistoo stated.

Currently, students can be found in the lab learning Java and Python, which are two major computer languages.

“There’s not one period where it’s free,” says Kistoo.

The new lab has allowed for the formation of a robotics team at RHHS. This year, the team placed 7th out of 52 international teams where they competed against students from London, France, Turkey, and China.

Although Outar and Sharma were the only Zara scholarship winners, the graduating student body amassed a whopping $6 million dollars in scholarships.

"We're proud to support the students at Richmond Hill high school," says Tony Subraj, a Zara representative.

"Shazad and Kavya are excellent students and we wish them both the best of luck at City College".

As for the future, Kistoo stated that both Outar and Sharma have expressed interest in returning to RHHS as tutors.

“We couldn’t be more thankful to Zara,” Kistoo says.

It is clear that Zara Realty's generosity will positively impact the lives of Outar, Sharma, and the entire student body at RHHS.
