Just got back from the St. John's-Monmouth game.

A few thoughts:

This was quite an ugly game. There were so many traveling calls on both sides that it was hard for the game to develop any sort of rhythm.

Da'Shena Stevens started in place of Coco Hart. Coach Kim Barnes Arico said that Stevens and Hart will alternate starts based on which player performs better during practice. Tonight it was Stevens, and she made the most of her chance, pulling down 6 rebounds in the first half.

Monmouth forward Jennifer Bender wreaked havoc on the storm late in the game. Once the Hawk's three point shots started falling, Bender had room to operate, and St. John's had a tough time stopping her.

Credit McClean with a big basket a big steal late in the game. McClean had a quiet game, but she stepped up when needed.
