The American Red Cross has issued an urgent appeal to Citi Community Development for a large number of volunteers needed this weekend to help our fellow New Yorkers that were severely impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
Hundreds of volunteers are needed this Saturday, Sunday and Monday (November 10-12) to help distribute food, deliver care packages and bring much needed supplies to those in need.
If you are interested in volunteering, please visit Citi’s Volunteer Management System and search for “Red Cross Hurricane Sandy.” Once logged in, please select one of several Red Cross Volunteer Reception Sites located throughout the region (scroll down for a complete list). Each Volunteer Reception Site serves multiple communities, so when you arrive at your selected site, you will then be further directed by the Red Cross with specific details on your assignment. Due to regional transportation disruptions and difficulty accessing some areas, you are encouraged to register for the Volunteer Reception Site closest to you.
Interested volunteers must register by 2:00 PM on Friday, November 9. Volunteers will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
Friends and family are welcome to participate, however all volunteers must be over 18, able to lift at least 25 pounds, and comfortable engaging with a diverse population, many of whom have been without water, power and resources for more than a week.
Once registered, you will be contacted with further instructions by the Red Cross via your Citi email address on Friday evening or over the weekend, so you must be able to access your email in order to receive this important information. You will be responsible for sharing information with any friends or family who plan to participate.
If you have any questions, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you in advance for your participation.
