Bob Menendez, the son of Cuban immigrants who rose to become one of the highest-ranking Hispanic members of Congress, was charged Wednesday with accepting nearly $1 million in gifts and campaign contributions from a longtime friend in exchange for a stream of political favors.
Five US health workers monitored for three weeks by doctors in Nebraska after being exposed to Ebola in West Africa have all been released, officials said. They are all clinicians who worked with Boston-based aid group Partners in Health. The five treated in Nebraska were exposed to Ebola in Sierra Leone in March, but did not develop the disease. "All five people have now completed their quarantine period for Ebola," Nebraska Medicine said on Twitter.
