Scotland's first minister, Nicola Sturgeon, said on Sunday it was her responsibility to negotiate with the European Union to try to protect the interests of Scotland, which voted to remain in the bloc. "My challenge now as first minister is to work out how I best protect Scotland's interests, how I try to prevent us being taken out of the EU against our will with all of the deeply damaging and painful consequences that will entail," she told the BBC's Andrew Marr show. "My challenge, but also my responsibility as first minister, is to seek to negotiate to protect Scotland's interests," she said, adding she would speak to people in Brussels over the next few days.
Kenya aims to reduce by almost half the population of Dadaab refugee camp which is home to about 326,000 mostly Somali refugees by the end of the year, a committee that groups Kenya, Somalia and the U.N. refugee agency UNHCR said. Kenya has said it wants to close the camp, which was once home to more than half a million refugees, citing security threats. Nairobi says the Somali Islamist group al Shabaab has used the camp as a recruiting ground to launch attacks on Kenya.
