Taking full advantage of his championship-leading Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton's multiple grid penalties, that have consigned him to the back of the grid, the 31-year-old German delivered a well-judged performance to complete a hat-trick of poles. It was Rosberg's fifth pole this season and the 28th of his career – and gives him a great chance to reduce, or even overhaul, Hamilton's 19-point lead in the drivers' title race.

After decades of mistrust, Pope Francis is pushing to improve relations and his secretary of state, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, sounded upbeat about the chances of success.

Fire sweeps through Russian warehouse, killing 17 workersMOSCOW (AP) — A fire swept through a Moscow printing plant warehouse on Saturday, killing 17 migrant workers from Kyrgyzstan, Russia's emergency services said. A representative of the Kyrgyz community said the victims were all young women trapped in a dressing room while changing into their work clothes.
