Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon speaks during an emergency cabinet meeting at Bute House in EdinburghBy Estelle Shirbon LONDON (Reuters) - Scotland will do whatever it takes to remain in the European Union, including potentially blocking legislation on a British exit from the bloc, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said on Sunday. Sturgeon has said a new Scottish referendum on independence from the rest of the UK was "highly likely" if that were the best option to keep Scotland in the European bloc.

Prime Minister David Cameron has said he will resign -- prompting a fierce battle to replace him -- and several Labour lawmakers quit the party's top policy team to try to force their leader, Jeremy Corbyn, from office.
